The Albino Kadango Cichlid is a stunning color morph of the popular Kadango Red Fin Hap, prized for its brilliant coloration, graceful body shape, and distinctive albino characteristics. This morph lacks dark melanin pigmentation, resulting in a bright, clean appearance highlighted by pink to ruby-red eyes and vibrant warm-colored markings.
The body is elongated and laterally compressed, displaying a base coloration that ranges from creamy white and ivory to pale yellow or soft peach. Mature males develop intense orange-red, scarlet, or crimson coloration across the dorsal fin, caudal fin, and upper body, creating a striking contrast against the lighter albino background. Depending on lineage and maturity, subtle metallic blue, lavender, or pearlescent highlights may be visible along the face, gill plates, and flanks, though these are often softer than in wild-type specimens.
The fins are broad and flowing, with the dorsal fin extending elegantly along the back and often exhibiting rich orange-red pigmentation. The anal and caudal fins typically mirror these warm tones, producing a balanced and eye-catching display. Females and juveniles are generally lighter in coloration, displaying cream, pale gold, or light peach hues with less-developed red pigmentation.
Adult specimens commonly reach 6–8 inches (15–20 cm) in length and develop increasingly intense coloration with age and social dominance. Under aquarium lighting, the Albino Kadango Cichlid exhibits a radiant appearance, with its pale body and vivid red-orange fins creating a dramatic visual effect. Its combination of albino traits, elegant finnage, and bold coloration makes it a highly desirable centerpiece fish for African cichlid aquariums.
Known for its active swimming behavior and relatively moderate temperament among haplochromine cichlids, the Albino Kadango thrives in spacious aquariums with stable water conditions and compatible tank mates, where its brilliant colors can be fully appreciated.
