Chilotilapia rhoadesii, often called the “Malawi Hap,” is a hardy and visually appealing African cichlid known for its calm temperament and subtle, elegant coloration. It’s a great choice for aquarists looking to add a larger, more peaceful species to a Malawi community tank.

Chilotilapia rhoadesii has a moderately deep, elongated body with a smooth profile and slightly rounded fins. Its base color ranges from silvery-gray to light bronze, often accented by faint vertical barring. Males may develop soft blue or yellow hues, especially along the fins and face, while females remain more subdued.

Though not as flashy as some cichlids, its understated sheen and graceful movement give it a refined, natural look.
