The Thai Lace Peacock Cichlid is a beautiful, selectively bred Aulonocara variety prized for its intricate lace-like patterning and vibrant blend of blue, red, orange, and white coloration. Its delicate markings and shimmering iridescence give it an elegant appearance, making it a standout addition to any Lake Malawi aquarium.
Typically growing to 15–18 cm (6–7 inches), the Thai Lace Peacock is an active yet relatively peaceful cichlid that thrives in spacious aquariums with sandy substrate, rocky caves, and plenty of open swimming space. Like other peacock cichlids, it is less aggressive than many Mbuna species and does well in communities with other compatible peacocks and haplochromines of similar size and temperament.
An omnivore, the Thai Lace Peacock benefits from a varied diet of high-quality cichlid pellets, spirulina-based foods, and occasional protein-rich treats such as krill or mysis shrimp. Stable water conditions, excellent filtration, and proper nutrition help maintain its vibrant colors and overall health.
With its unique lace-like pattern, brilliant coloration, and graceful swimming behavior, the Thai Lace Peacock Cichlid is an exceptional choice for aquarists looking to add elegance, color, and personality to their African cichlid collection.
